Vaporize thin layers of unwanted coatings from metal, such as rust, deteriorating paint, thin films and contaminates with the power of hot light.
What is Laser Cleaning?
Laser cleaning involves concentrating laser energy onto the targeted area and guiding it across the cleaning zone with a galvanometer. The intense beam interacts with the surface, effectively eliminating undesired coatings or layers.
Numerous industries greatly benefit from laser cleaning, such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and more. Its applications encompass a wide range of tasks, including the following:
- Rust removal
- Mold cleaning
- Paint stripping
- Baking plate cleaning
- Heat seal die cleaning
- Art or antique restoration

From cleaning molds to removing rust on old components
Advantages of Laser Cleaning
- Precise cleaning areas. Due to the laser’s small spot size, you can precisely control cleaning locations.
- Non-contact. Lasers make no mechanical contact with parts, which can cause unnecessary wear.
- No consumables. Laser cleaning eliminates chemicals and replacement cleaning tools.
- Flexible integration. Laser cleaning systems work as standalone machines, or you can integrate them into production lines.
Laser Cleaning Methods
Laser cleaning processes work best when the unwanted layer has a high absorption rate within the laser’s wavelength range and the underlying substrate is reflective within the same range. This relative absorption difference causes the unwanted material to heat up quickly and ablate from the surface—leaving the substrate unaffected. A fume extraction system then removes the airborne material in a clean and controlled manner.

The Absolute Best Customer Service Around
Working with the entire Control Micro Systems team on our project was a pleasure. CMS was capable of meeting and exceeding our goals. They successfully designed and built a machine which increased our throughput by 550%! We are so glad we chose to move forward with CMS.
In the three years ACR has owned the CMS laser, it has worked flawlessly. In the few instances where ACR needed support in programming, CMS was quick to respond.
CMS have been excellent partners in the development of new, complex equipment for our business. CMS built multiple machines for us. Each machine had a different purpose, however the CMS team worked openly & honestly with us to agree on optimal solutions for each one.
