Laser Marking Dental Drill Bits using a Robot

This fiber laser marking system uses a 4-axis SCARA EPSON robot for picking titanium drill bits off of a pallet. The bit is placed into one or two part registers in order to reposition the robot’s grip in order to mark different locations. The first part register is used for marking the bit gauge on the handle. The second part register is used for marking depth bands along the shaft of the bit as the robot rotates it. A fiber laser fires perpendicularly to the part to mark the sides. Once complete, the robot will either place the bit in the tray or on the exit chute.
