Automated Laser Marking of Automotive Hardened Steel Parts

This CDRH Class I laser system was designed for marking hardened steel parts with a data matrix. A robot places parts on a two-position rotary table unit where it will be marked inside a Class I enclosure. Machine vision is used for verifying the data matrix after marking. Parts that pass inspection are then placed back onto the conveyor pallet. Any failed parts are placed in the reject chute.
