Etch barcodes, date codes and convert materials with a laser marking system. Mark with vision verification for fast-paced on-the-fly packaging applications.
Lasers for Packaging
From paper and plastic, to organics and textiles, our laser marking and etching systems enable fast, repeatable and precise printing on a variety of packaging materials.
Whatever you need written, we can write—whether text, logos or images, as well as 2D, QR, bar and UPC codes. Our laser marking systems process hundreds of parts per minute and involve no inks, dyes, rollers or stamps that make contact with your goods. Best of all, you can make changes in seconds—improving your production flexibility.
Our lasers even safely mark information onto the surfaces of eggs, fruits, vegetables and other organics. Instead of applying labels, our systems etch information directly into the shell, skin or peel. The marking is only a few cell layers deep—leaving the item intact and improving its traceability from grower to consumer.
Laser Applications for Packaging
From marking date codes on cans and cardboard to converting packaging materials
Pairing Laser Marking with Vision Verification
We also routinely design our packaging laser systems with vision part alignment—a feature that lets you load your parts into the marking system in any orientation. The system’s optics reads each item’s alignment and adjusts the galvanometers accordingly. The process is seamless and keeps production moving.
- Mark cardboard boxes and cartons, wood, plastic labels and more
- Etch date codes on aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles
- Determine orientation of a part before marking
Laser Converting of Materials
Material conversion is a process in which a material requires perforation (small holes or slits), shape cutting, scoring or kiss cutting. This process is traditionally done with a mechanical die. With laser technology, dies are no longer needed, reducing cost of ownership and increased ROI.
- All laser wavelengths available: UV to IR
- Digital cutting patterns simplifies converting processes
- Non-contact processing

The Absolute Best Customer Service Around
Working with the entire Control Micro Systems team on our project was a pleasure. CMS was capable of meeting and exceeding our goals. They successfully designed and built a machine which increased our throughput by 550%! We are so glad we chose to move forward with CMS.
In the three years ACR has owned the CMS laser, it has worked flawlessly. In the few instances where ACR needed support in programming, CMS was quick to respond.
CMS have been excellent partners in the development of new, complex equipment for our business. CMS built multiple machines for us. Each machine had a different purpose, however the CMS team worked openly & honestly with us to agree on optimal solutions for each one.
